Is it possible instead of replacing the panels to actually paint them? Please let me know.

You can buy fabric dye at most automotive stores. I believe SEM brand is noted to be a very good brand.

SEM is the best. Just be sure to clean, clean, clean before spraying.

Do what they say and spend the extra for the best...Used duplicolor fabric dye and it faded in a years time.!!

Thank You all for the info. I'm not in a hurry to do this and now I'm thinking of just getting quality aftermarket replacements just for the furry stuff. 😛 The sem rep told me the paint is not recommended to change color only to refresh original colors. Thanks

I've used SEM to change colors on vinyl and fabric with no problems. It worked especially well on Firebird lower door panels with the fuzzy fabric map pockets. I also did a headliner from saddle to black, but it took many coats. All the blue pieces in the picture were different colors originally.

1Oh Ok. How did you prep it? I have what is called ruby red (at least that's what the trunk lid code states). Which almost looks maroon but a little darker. I want to change the color to oem dark blue for 87. As far as all the plastic pieces no prob. Its the fuzzy stuff I want to change.

2How long did the paint last on the carpet with out touch ups so far? Oh and thanks

Burgundy to Blue is probably why SEM doesn't recomend it ..... reds are the worst colors for bleed-through

Carpet was a faded light greyish/blue and has lasted fine. The seats were grey and as you can see where I sit it's wearing, so a touch up is needed. The seats were cleaned with several carpet/upholstery cleaner-in-a-cans from the .99 store and a scrub brush. The carpet was hosed and scrubbed with a bristle brush and soapy water. The door carpet is perfect, but nothing ever touches it. The console was saddle, then red, then blue. Lots of soapy water and scrubbing with a scotcbrite pad is key. I lucked out at a swap meet and found 10 cans of upholstery dye for $1 a can so it was a low cost deal for me.
