I removed a buick 231 from my cutlass. At this point I'm cleaning and painting the control arms, replacing bushings, ball joints etc.
I am planning to place a sbc, so at first i was assuming to buy gbody v8 coil springs, but im removing the a/c, converting to manual steering, and possibly manual brakes. So considering just that weight reduction would V8 springs be over kill and leave me with a jacked up front end?
I'm not too sure what to do here. Will be a while before its time to install the springs, wanted to hear from some experiences.

I kept the v6 springs in mine - no problems. Here is a pic but remember I have 28 inch slicks on it.

I replaced mine with new Moog V8 springs and I think its too high in the front. You can always replace them if they feel weak later.

The thing to remember is that you want to keep the A arms in the same position. If the springs are to soft and it squats the car all of your steering geometry will be off. I have a Cutlass with a V8 and V8 springs that I just put 2" drop spindles on< I really like the look.
