I have a deal pending on a original 79 Gran Am 97k miles, 231 v6, auto, air, extremely clean, drive anywhere, has a perfect, rust, scrape free body, and interior is except for some light fading is all original, can any one give me a dollar amount of this unit

hard to say w/o pics..with that said, all locations are different as far as price goes. if you're in the rust belt like me, the price would be higher...w/o any pics I'd say somewhre between 800-3k

In the Chicago area, clean cars are hard to come by. If I was looking at a car like you described, I'd expect it to be a lot closer to the high end of Evan's estimate. I paid $1,200 for a rust-free roller last year.

If the car is truly rust free, frame is rust free, no bubbling on the bottom of the doors etc then I would have no problem paying 1500-2k for it. If it is REALLY clean and they are not common in your neck of the woods then 3k probably is not out of the ball park either. Another good way to see what cars are going for is to hop on a local classified. In my area we have Auto Rv which covers a few states. I usually look through that when i sell something and price accordingly. Same when buying.
