hi everyone its been awhile ... my car is still not done and is over 800 miles from me. i have just found out the valve covers have been off for three weeks+ and is sitting out side in the rain and snow. how long can it stay like that with out doing harm so i know if i got put afire under my dad to fix the push rods.

You're looking at atleast doing an oil change now. I have gotten away with leaving an engine outside only to have the cover I put on the intake blow off and it get filled with water. I would fix the pushrod issue, dont even bother starting it, and change the oil+oil filter. If he doesnt want to fix the pushrods just have him cover it up.

is there a hood on it? or is the motor just hanging out? I would just do a drain and fill.

ok thats good to hear
