Now that the Cutlass is running and riding smooth, I am changing my focus to the interior. Over the years the rear seat and passenger side seat have turned a bit gray. Has anyone used the SEM paint on velour? Tips?
I think I have the right color after painting my horn button, but that was a small job. A few pics to show current condition.

I was told it will make them crusty. I was thinking of getting my velour dyed and the upholstery shop said dyeing cloth does not work.

I painted my seats and door panels on my 86 SS. My seats are not the same pattern as yours. The seats were really faded I used duplicolor paint. I cleaned my seats with a vacuum and every time I sprayed a coat I used a brush to prevent it from getting crusty. The door panels looked better than the seats but they were both an improvement to the faded cloth.

What kind of brush?

I think SEM is a great product and I have used it on quite a few interiors on plastics and vinyl's with excellent results but I feel any spray paint regardless of how you apply it is going to take away the softness of the original velour and the color won't last especially on a high wear item like a seat since it is not really practical to apply a couple coats of clear over the color coat to protect it like you would on plastic.

I dont remember exactly it was either a Stanley steamer brush I was given after I had my interior cleaned by them a few months before or a finger nail brush. 565bbchevy is right it is still not as soft as it used to be but it was a trade off in my opinion that was well worth it. It's been a few years since I did it the panels still look good but the seats are showing some wear.

Finally got around to this. The SEM Burgandy paint blended well. I was cautious about it becoming stiff, so after each light coat I brushed with a nylon brush. This seemed to really help. Here is a pic of the first test section and then the entire back panel of the rear seat. Very happy thus far with the results.
