vinyl top padding

anyone know what the thickness of the padding is from the factory when my car was my friends some A$$ hole slashed the vinyl up and he had got it replaced however they put thick padding as if they double padded it and reason i ask because i think there may be rust underneath and also the trim on the sides doesnt line up, so ii'm just wondering whats the normal thickness thanks

I've been in the upholstery business for 35 years and there were several different padding types and thicknesses used on GM cars. Yours was most likely 3/16" dense foam.
