Looking for a quick cheap fix for my vinyl top because it was brought to my attention that the way it is right now, there is nothing repelling water so its soaking into the top.

I was given a suggestion to just rhino liner over the top of the vinyl, so that it would still remove if I ever wanted to take it off. I could probably get it the right texture, and the color would be about the same, and it would for sure protect my roof. any thoughts on this or am i missing a detail?

I wouldn't put rhino liner over the vinyl...

If the vinyl is dried and cracked, like I'm assuming it is, since you're in FL, it'd probably be wise to remove it and repair any damage lurking beneath.

I just came up with this super awful idea, and I'll let you use it if you like...
Carefully remove your trim, and strip the vinyl, carefully triming with a razor around the 1/4 windows.
Clean up the roof, and if you have to, fix any rust.
Paint the area with rust protectant paint of your choice.
Then put some liner or something over it and paint it your color of choice
And put your trim back on, and you'll have a nice pseudo 'textured' top.

lol, y not? Im horrible at removing trim, I always break it. I may end up just painting it, I was just thinking of quick cheap fix that didnt require my breaking anything lol

bump, any specific reasons why this is a bad idea, rhino linering OVER the vynil?

Since the vinyl is a soft, padded surface, if you put liner on top of it, if you push on the top, the stuff will crack. It may not fall off, but now it's not only letting moisture back in, which is what you were trying to stop in the first place, but it's also helping trap moisture in... leading to further rust damage.

I know you're looking for a cheap/easy fix, but the cheapest/easiest fix is to simply remove the vinyl top.
