i have an LM1 goodwrench crate 350 the specs are ·(4) Bolt main block with a (2) piece rear main seal. ·Cast Iron Crank. ·LT/LT4 Powdered Metal connecting rods. ·Cast Pistons, (dished). ·Hydraulic flat tappet cam, (.383” intake / .401” exhaust) and a 112-degree lobe separation. ·Cast Iron Cylinder heads with a 76cc combustion chamber. (Non vortec design) ·8.5:1 compression ratio. ·Left or Right hand dipstick. ·(4) Quart oil pan.

i think ive asked before but what is the best Heads/cam/intake/carb setup for my application? its a street/strip car. daily driven

i was looking into dart iron eagle heads, 64cc chamber 2.02 valves
but as far as cam im lost..
for carb/intake i was thinkin edelbrock performer manifold w/ an edelbrock thunder series 650cfm carburetor

ssoooo wadda ya think? :?:

sound like a good, solid, stock engine. i'd put on a set of vortecs (cheap, easy to find-i'm selling a pair-and add 15-20hp on a stock set up) and something like the compcams xe-268h. depending on what you want out of the engine you may want to go smaller. anything larger would probably have poor low and mid rpm power in a 350. (low, mid, high in a 7k max range). can't forget headers and a good exhaust

if its within your budget, i'd look at the edelbrock top end packages. heads, intake, cam and lifters matched to each other and to the power goals you want. makes selecting the parts alot easier. from what i've found if you ask 100 people about what cam to get, you'll get 100 different answers 🙂

i priced one out a few weeks ago, and it ran about 1500 bucks
i'm in canada so it's probably a little less in the states

I would go with the Holley SysteMax top end kit from summit. It is supposed to be pretty amazing plus it'll be different from everyone else's "Edlebrock" engines

Its pretty hard to beat the cast iron Vortec heads for the cost. I'm not big on carb's so I would a Holley Stealth Ram multi point set up.

thanks for the advice guys!!

i prbly shouldve added that i would liek to be in the 400hp range. i already have flowtech longtubes,2.5" pypes echaust header back,no cats, msd hei ignition. it goes pretty good right now, i just want more 🙂

i would liek to keep a lower budget as i am only 18 years old, i make about 3 grand per summer, 1200 for insurance so watevers left over is going into the cutlass.

thanks

to get 400hp i would really get rid of those cast, low compression pistons. i would look at a minimum of 10.5:1. use forged pistons if you plan on using nitrous, otherwise i'd use hypereutectic. i'd also have the engine balanced to help with higher RPM's. you might also consider a 383 conversion.

Yeah, The pistons will kill any hopes of making real power. If it were me, I would run the Vortec Heads, Performer RPM intake, Comp XE 262 cam ( wide LSA will help maximize low RPM cylinder pressure with those pistons), a Performer RPM Vortec intake and a Quadrajet carb.

i could be wrong but isnt it ideal to run a blower with dished pistons??? isnt that what they are made for?? it would kill your compression...

what is your budget? edelbrock makes a nice kit with aluminum heads, cam, air gap intake for 1,700$ but again i have no clue what you are looking to spend. vortec heads with a air gap intake and a nice 750 holly wold be a nice combo also.
