I have a 1986 Olds Cutlass and my plan is to install a Hurst Quarter stick shifter. After assessing the situation, I see that the shifter will just barely fit between the seat and the dashboard on the transmission hump. It has the 60/40 bench seat and I would like to keep it in the car. It looks like if i can raise the height of the shifter base it will work but I am not sure what routes to take to make this work. Has anyone tackled and successfully accomplished this install, if so can you help me??? Any assistance will be appreciated.

take a picture of the mounting points on it (or a couple of good pics of the whole thing) I have a couple of ideas for you...

As you say all the aftermarket shifters barely fit between the seat and dash .....
but it does
I had a prostick & quick silver in mine ....worked perfect !

Sounds good, I will post them and look for your ideas.
i did this so i could adjust the height to where i wanted it, didn't know if i was gonna make a console or use the fatory style, but works perfect... just tighten two nuts together, with washers, one on bottom one on top...
