Hey guys,
I have a question I just replaced the water pump on my 305 and now it's leaking
From the thermostat housing. Why would it do that? Higher pressure? Maybe just a fluke?
Also the bolts seem to be frozen in the therm housing any ideas how to get them out without breaking them?

Hey, My bet is the bolts have stretched already. That's probably why your leaking. Use Liquid Wrench and lots of it. But be prepared because they will most likely break any way. Just hope that they snap just the head off the bolt and not towards the bottom near the intake surface. then your done. It will be time for a new intake if that happens. You might need a new thermostat housing also.
I wish you luck.
May the Liquid wrench be with you.

Thanks a lot I have them soaking in pb blaster tonight. It also doesn't help we just got a couple of inches of snow in denver.
Hopefully everything will work out and if they do snap just use a tap and die right?

Ok PB is even better. Is that a aluminum intake or cast iron? If it breaks in cast iron you have a better chance at getting the bolts out. Definitely harder with aluminum, but not impossible. Do you have a propane torch? Heating the surface will ease things with either intake.
I hope this helps.

Also tap the bolt down with a ball peen hammer a few times before you try to loosen them. And spay it too.

A crack?? It must be an aluminum intake. Where exactly is the crack? around the thermostat bolt holes? Use some sandpaper to see the crack better. There are options depending on the crack.
