Water Pump Questions

For 1. Are the water pumps that come on late 60's-70 model chevy have long water pumps or short? I removed all of my heater/ a-c components and I wanna know can I cap off my water pump. one of the hoses came from the pump and connected to the heater core. Since its gone I dont know what to do.

1. Long, except some Corvettes. And sure, you can screw in a plug.
