Well I start to tare in to my 700r4 that I am building up for my 1981 Monte. Every thing looks good as I am tearing in to it all the clutches look good Band looks all most new.

I remove the bolts on the tail shaft and this!

Next I test on the new "Beast sun-shell" and the sun gear will not fit in to it with out taping it in with a rubber mallet "it is Taught!" But no so taught I have to beet it in.. I feel it should drop in…

Bummer, but it is cool you're rebuilding it yourself.

You should be able to find another tailshaft housing somewhere. Dunno about the sun shell.

My bad, wasn't paying attention. While the case is still empty take it to a welder and have 'em fill it, then bring it home and tap it.

well i got the case welded up for $75 and took the Sun-shell to a trans shop and he gave me the OK on it so i am all good.

Been a week I still haven’t gotten a call on the case i hope they didn’t lose it but that would be my luck

Where did you take the case to have it welded?

oddy's on Bullis Road. They seemed backed up a little when I walked in to ask for directions, ill give them a call this week and see how close they are to getting to it. I was looking for Don’s or Dan’s welding but MapQuest took me to the wrong address “not the first time but rare”
