I'm totally new to G-bodys and have an '86 monte carlo ss..and fairly new to cars but I do know a good bit..but what I have no idea is when it comes to wheels..like I don't know what offset or backspace means or any of those terms..I am a youngster too LOL

Right now I got the stocks on but really would like to put some 16 inch GTA wheels on (original I know LOL) but what all would I need to mount them? Like I want to put them on and have no problems with them..and another question is..what the widest wheel I can put on them and not have to modify anything on the body? Is it safe to widen the stock rim itself?

Thanks..sorry just another noob

whats the bolt pattern on those wheels

the back spacing is the size of the pad on the back of the wheel whats the specs of the wheels??? the stock monte carlo any gbody or oldschool car except for trucks are 5x4.75 and use an offset off 0-15 wich is a low offset you can put other wheels with different bolt patterns but you will need adapters and to know the offset of the wheel so you can get the right spacing in order to fit them you can fit up to a 24x10 in the rear but you will need an adapter

Re: what all would I need to do to mount 16in GTA wheel on m

yes i believe you will need small spacers on the rear but i think you will be ok the the front

Re: what all would I need to do to mount 16in GTA wheel on m

specs

Size : 16" x 8"
Backspacing Front : 4.75"
Backspacing Rear : 5.25"
Bolt pattern : 4.75"

Re: what all would I need to do to mount 16in GTA wheel on m

The front and rear GTA wheels used different backspacing. The rear GTA wheels had the 5.25 bs and won't fit without a spacer. The front GTA wheels had less backspacing and will fit. What most people do is use 4 front GTA wheels on their g-bodys.

Re: what all would I need to do to mount 16in GTA wheel on m

so would some 1" spacers work fine for the rears?

Re: what all would I need to do to mount 16in GTA wheel on m

Yep, I used 1" spacers on the rear with the "rear" wheels and then put the "front" on the front withput spacers.

If you intend to run the rear GTA rims on the car, not only will you need spacers, you'll need longer wheel studs. I know this from experience. Your best bet would be to try to get 4 front rims, and use them on the front and the rear.

Stock studs on mine front and rear. And i used adapters on the rear, not spacers, even though that's what I said earlier.
