It was '82 that GM changed them from A to G. All GM books (parts & service) from '81 for my car shows A. I worked at a auto body supply shop that had PPG shop advertising that actually listed the FWD as G for '82 (dated for the spring of '81). Wish I took some before I left.
 
so my biggest problem is getting interior parts like a dash pad,and something called a adaptor ,abig plastic piece that the gauges bolt up to. i thought i had one at pull and save but someone tore up the dash to get one small part ,the speedometer,but i was able to get the printed circut board off the back but all the gauges were smashed damn.
