somebody tell me the truth. already bought a 383 stroker to replace my 307 motor in my 84 hurst/olds. i am keeping the orig 307 and over the coarse of a year or two i am going to rebuild it to orig factory specs. the only reason i bought the 383 stroker was to have some fun with the car while i slowly restore it to stock. I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT I NEED TO BUY OR KEEP IN MIND FOR THE 383 SWAP AS FAR AS MOUNTS,BRACKETS ETC..........?
whole setup, pulleys, brackets, components. Both chassis and motor mounts. New distributor & wires if your motor doesn't already have. Flexplate, headers, carb throttle stud, geometry corrector kit, tv/throttle cable bracket (all according to carburetor). Relocate battery to passenger side. I forget if 307 has passenger side fuel feed, but if it doesn't you need it on passenger side. I'm pretty sure that's it, did my swap v6 to 350 v8 so I had more to change. Your fan shroud should be good. Oh and you might need a bellhousing adapter plate if your trans isn't dual pattern.
Use a sbo 350 crank and stroke +30 over pistons to give you a 380ci and then use all your existing motor mounts brackets accessories etc. A few more bucks for motor parts etc but no motor mounts brackets new accessories fuel line battery starter exhaust etc etc plus you have something cool & special instead of ordinary & common.
