i replaced my uppers. parts store didnt have moog in stock so i got some cheap ones. oe brand. and when i pulled the old ones they had a collar that was over the boot. these new ones i got didnt have the collar. im assuming the collar is just to help hold that boot in place.

I think you are correct, to keep the grease from squooshing out. Can you reuse the old ones?

im sure i can reuse them but i already put them on. i noticed the spindle is tight enough to where the boot wont fall down. and i use the grease gun to grease up the ball joints till the grease starts coming out anyway. and i have heard alot of bad things about this oe brand. alot of there ball joints get play quickly most people say they only last a couple yrs. i just need them to last at least a yr. once i get everything setup with the car i want to use some tubular control arms. for now these will have to do. thanks for the info
