Ok 1st of all . I dont know what kind of engine I have. I bought an 82 cutlass and the guy told me it was a chevy 350..a few mechanics all have different answers.....the intake manifold has the numbers 3919803 GM 4 on it...all i can guess is its a 1968 ???...how can i find out what it is?

The intake casting number doesn't mean anything. Look at the drivers side on the bellhousing right behind the head there will be a series of numbers, that is the block casting number.
If it is a chevy motor it could be anything from a 267 to a 400 and any variation in between. I have seen alot of 305 trying to be sold as 350's because people don't check it out closer, the two look alot alike from looking at both.

also, try and post up a couple of good pics. some of the BOP motors are more readily identifiable.
