my car is a 1980 culass calais does this make it a body and are they close enough to g bodies for most of the parts to fit? I am having trouble buying parts because no one knows a body or g body. I also need the couplings for the power seats in my car. I had to take the covers off the side of the seat and pull the cables out and hook them into my cordless drill to get the seats to move because my couplings were broken. when I got the seats out it was full of bobby pins and ink pens and just plain junk. what other years have this power seat so I am not stuck looking for a 1980 .

1978-1980 is 'A' Body but from 81-88 it was switched to 'G' Body. Theyre still essentially the same cars with small differences on major parts, but the body styles changed. I think power seats came in all A/G Body years, 78-88, and are all the same, but i could be wrong.

Actually, the body style designation was not related to the redesign. While the A-body cars were all significantly facelifted for the 1981 model year, those cars were still known as A-bodies. It wasn't until the 1982 model year that the all-new FWD A-body platform debuted and took over that name, at which point GM renamed our RWD cars G-bodies.

To prevent confusion, most car guys simply call all of our RWD cars G-bodies all the way back to their 1978 model year debut.
