The radiator in my 442 is leaking so now I am looking for a replacement. What have you guys been using? I would like a little better cooling than the stock unit. I was also thinking about putting in a aftermarket trans cooler to help out my transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running an aluminum champion 3 row along with an external aluminum plate trans cooler that I have hooked up in line with the trans cooler in the radiator. A lot of people are against these radiators because of the price (about $245) but if you read reviews about people who use them, they are really good radiators. I have a mild 350 sbc and am running a 180 stat and haven't seen it go past 165 yet in about 70 degree weather. The only thing that I didn't like is for some reason the drain petcock hit the side of the radiator support so you couldn't open it but I installed a zinc anode rod for corrosion protection instead. I have the trans cooler mounted in the front of the radiator right behind one of the grille openings so it gets good airflow. I have driven it for over an hour and can touch the external trans cooler and hold my hand on it as it is just warm. But they radiator is definitely worth checking out.

I bought a 4 row spectra from auto zone .com last week for $ 129.99 +tax. got free shipping and a $15 gift card. I did some measuring and my El Camino will take this rad,It's for a 70 Camaro with a 6.6 402 engine. The part # is CU101 I had to scrounge up some wide mounting pads to fit the 4" tanks
I think I got a good deal. 8) And it has a lifetime guarantee also.

for better cooling, you can also switch to Evans NPG+. it cools better, but more importantly it doesn't break down, boil under 400*F at 0psi, use/need water, cause corrosion, cause hotspots... it's expensive, but worth it

I also have a Champion radiator off ebay. The only complaints with it, are the spots where the hoses clamp on are a little smaller than OEM, but that could be the worn radiator hoses I have. Just clamped them down a little tighter is all. Also, I needed to grind down the radiator hold down plate from a Cutlass for my electric fans, a little to make room for the rad cap. But it looks like it was supposed to be notched for the cap after I was done with it. It has bigger tanks than OEM replacements too. I'd definately suggest that, or the Champion version for 3rd Gen F-bodies with is probably a little wider.
