i have my 1984 Monte SS and it has the 305 H.O. th350 but i dont know what gears are in it...what rpm should i be at 55 mph with 3:42's? what about if i had 3:73's? i was going around 55Mph and i was taching about 2800 rpms. can anybody help?

With my 400, TH400 and 3.73s im at 2800-2900 at about 55 and it sucks! 3.42s will be alot nicer but I would suggest if you do a rear gear swap to 3.73s you should go with a 700r4 or 200-4r for highway purposes. Unless of course your car is just a light to light cruiser
