i put 275/60/15 tires on the rear of my cutlass and 235/60/15 tires on the front. i set the car down to see its stance and i wanna lower the rear maybe an inch and the front needs to be lowered like 2-3 inches.

as far as i know the springs are stock and i just wanna know what to be looking for in a junkyard or where to find some very affordable springs and what size and specs

im not in a rush to lower the car as im just trying to get the dam thing to run but any help would be awesome

It's hard to really say "Use this spring to lower you car by XX amount". Stocks springs are over 20 years old and all start to sag differant amounts. You may want it 2" lower than where it sits now. So, you use a spring someone else used to lower theirs and you end up 1" higher than you are at now. I know, BTDT. Also, differant engines weigh more that others and when you throw in alum intakes, heads, headers, etc we have to take those into consideration, also. "Stock" springs are differant for V6 Buicks, SBC, and V8 Olds engines. If we recommend a spring that lowered our SBC powered car and you put it in your V6 Cutlass (for example only) then it would raise the front, not lower it.

Here's an excellant page that shows differant Moog/TRW springs for differant cars that will fit our g-bodies. Just study it and you'll be able to get close to what you need. Remember the guy that posted it was baseing all rates with a SBC in mind. If you have the V6 it wouldn't lower it as much and if you have an Olds V8 or BBC it could possibly lower it too far.

You can buy new Moog or TRW springs for under about $65 a pair. With them being so cheap and brand new, you don't want to spend the time finding a donor car, pulling out sagging 20 year old springs to replace your 20 year old sagging springs...

Look to Summit, Jegs, or Autozone for the Moog numbers. Napa numbers are differant according to NapaOnline.com.

I have had my fun with springs. If you are looking for pure looks and stance, then you may be better off cutting your current springs. There is nothing wrong with cutting them as long as you make sure the will seat well.

However you may want to call the guys at stock car products http://www.stockcarproducts.com/

They know springs. I bought Hypercoils from them. They will also work with you via spring exchange so long as you can return them looking as good as when you received them. I am running 5" x 13" 200lb spring in the rear. Read their LIFETIME WARRANTY in regards to settling.

On the front I run the QA1 coil over conversion that allows a wide range of front ride heights. This kit usually comes with drag springs. If you want handling performance, order them from Global West and request the 800lb spring.

My $.02 Good luck

i have a 1986 cutlass supreme with a 455 up front, im currently running stock springs but they sag like crazy in the back from all the tq and hard launches. i was wondering what the stock spring rate is so i can order some that will stand up in my application.
