Its an 85 cutlass with a big block olds 461 its got 450hp T400 transmission with shift kit and a 3000 stall, all stock suspension except some different shocks and its got a 7.5 rear end with stock gears. Just curious what people thought it would run so I can have something to tell this guy that swears his 13.5 second mustang gt would stomp my cars dick in the mud.

Well that depends, what ratio is the rear gear and what kind of tires do you have on the rear? Im thinking low 13s maybe high 12s.

i think 275 or something like that its a stock non posi rear. right now i have 14' rallys with the widest tires i could put on them or atleast what the tire store said would go on them. I think 235 60 14

Well with a 2.75 you might be able to get a better start because its gonna be harder to spin the tires but with all that torque if you do get em spinning your gonna roast em so just try not to spin em too much and youll probably run into the 12s. Good luck and shut that mustang drivin ******* up!

A flat peak horespower number does little to define how an engine will perform in the real world. What was actually done to your 455? Cam, CR, headers, heads etc?

There are really no such thing as 'stock gears' because there were so many options. Your RPO code in the trunk lid should tell you your exact gears.

I don't see your car hooking for $hit at the track with those tires so I would'nt expect great times. But if you put on some sticky tires, I don't see that rear end holding up for too long.

It's hard to make an accurate prediction without knowing more.

cam,hydraulic, 272/284 duration 484/512 lift,K.B piston 30 over i think it is 10 to1 or 10 to 5 flat top,timing chain is a double roller,heads have been a little port& polish

All this is just talking crap (and unless you have had your engine/car on a dyno so are your HP numbers). If you have the stuff to build a car, take it to the next step, put it on the track and find out what it will do.

With that rear ratio i would say you are right there with the terdstang not much faster if at all.

Exactly. Trying to fight a bench racing arguement with more "assumed" bench racing doesn't prove anything and is absolutely pointless.

If the guy with the Mustang *KNOWS* his car runs a 13.5 in the quarter because he's actually run it at the drag strip, then the ONLY way your going to prove to him your's is any faster is by taking it to the strip.

Did you have the engine dynoed? Where did the 450HP come from?

Re: What time do you think my car will run as it is right no

The guy that built the engine had it dynoed then never used the engine. It was going in a jet boat then sold the boat then sold the engine to me a year later is what he told me he said he couldnt find the dyno sheet and didnt remember the torque but he knew for a fact that the hp dynoed at 450hp cause he had it on the paper with the boat.
