Hi there took my regal out to the drags this weekend for fun. It was a street car shoot out. However the rules at the local 1/8 mile says that the tires must not only be dot tires, but must not be a drag et type tire. This is the first time I have had to try to pedal this thing down the track with only 245/60/15 bfg's under it damn is it tough. I was wondering if any of you knows a way first to get rid of wheel hop? I can not lower my upper trialing arms because of the three inch pipes and the twelve bolt. As well is there any hidden traction that any of you can think of even short shifting 2nd gear and being gentle on the clutch once I hit 4000 rpm the tires just light fire I was running with various tire pressures but my normaly quick 5.00 second car was labouring around 6.6 and not consistent at all. ( kinda required in bracket racing) ant ways any responces would help thank you.

oh yes it has a 390 sbc with 6 inch rods 310 lunati camshaft dart prow 1 alum heads preformer rpm with 1000 q jet borg warner t 5 ( slightly modified and braced ) mcleod twin disc under scatter shield 12 bolt rear diff tail lights and a radio lol. and of course it's spooled with 4 wheel disc brakes and a dodge tortion bar for a rear sway bar.

Can you have boxed or aftermarket lower trailing arms? Eliminate bind hold things square should help with wheelhop.
How about an air bag in one spring? Pre load the suspension to put same downforce on both tires should also help wheelhop.
How about adjustable drag shocks to help transfer weight? Especially up front.
No drag radials I take. How about a taller tire for a bigger foot print and better sidewall give. The traction should save you more time than the loss of gear costs you. Maybe a 275/60 or a 255/70. People like the name and look but BFG radial TAs actually suck. They are cheap tires. How about getting some of that tire softner compound to soak your tread in.

don't you think it's a little late for a april fools day joke 🙂 your wheel hop problem is a easy fix. put your big slicks back on and race with the race cars,a radio and tail lights don't make a street car!! 😀 i have to race against sand bagging race cars every time i race,it gets frustrating when your running all out and a race car thats 2 or 3 seconds faster than you dials in just enough to catch you and put his nose in front ,thats not racing! if you get time post up some pics of your street car, good luck with your traction problem  jesse

Well said by the man with a Detroit Locker & Victor intake?.. does your car have current tags full exhasut & street radials or just a radio and an overdrive transmission? Just askin 😱 But good point none the less.

this is my street car 😀

this didn't come out right i don't know how to send pics were the pics line up top to bottom can you tell me how to do it right jesse

Looks right to me Jesse. Cool car. You got lots of work and money in that one for sure. What kind of times mph does she run in the 1/4? Still run on pump gas? Does the Detroit Locker want to push you through curves if you are accelerating? I presume you have the overdrive mostly to keep the rpms down if you want to drive her to town or something but have you ever tried to see what mileage it can make? Just curious. The serpentine system is cool to.

those are some great sugestions however when I rn street car shoot out they will only allow me to run legitamate street tires not even a cheeter slick. as far as control arms I built my own to the same dimesions of th oe ones using hiem joints at the frame end and brass bushings at the diff to stop the diff from swinging side to side I had to spend some hard time and built a dual pivot pan hard bar ( like the caravan ones ) as for tire diametre if I go bigger the car goes slower I use tire diametre to compensate for only running 410 gears. I don't feel like changeing gear sets every time they have a street car shoot out. as for slicks I run them when I do the quarter my passes are ussualy around 1200 with a 110 mph. Not bad for a standard car eh ? How ever I really appreciate the replys ty. I will get pics of my car up eventualy sorry
