im getting new wheels and tires soon and i wanna go with the s/s cragars 15x8. will they mount to an 85 grand prix or am i gonna have problems with anything im also thinking of 225/60 tires. just wanna know if this combo will work ive seen pictures of grand prix's with those cragars but i dont know if ill need a spacer or anything, im kinda clueless right now.

As long as you get the proper back spacing you will be fine.
Check out the wheel and tire thread to see what others have done.
I have 10" wide rims and 275/60/15 on the back of my car....but they don't really fit. lol.

Like 81Gp383 said, it all depends on the backspacing of the rim. For rear, I think somewhere around 4.5" will work without spacers. My brother has 15x8 cragar ss on his 85 monte with 255/60r15, backspace is somewhere around an inch or something.

I recently got new torq thrust II wheels for my 87 buick that are 15x10 with 295/50r15 tires. The rims have 3.75" backspace and stick out from the fender, but they fit without frame customizations or spacers.

ive done some looking and ive got it down to 2 but im having a hard time deciding between a backspace of 2.5in or 4.25in.

A 4.25 bs on a 15 x 8 should fit without issues worst case you might need a 1/4" spacer but not likely and a 2.5 bs on a 15 x 8 will make the tire stick out of the wheel well and look ridiculous.
Also a 225/60R15 will be too short and narrow for a rear tire, I would go with a 255/60 or 275/60 to fill up those wheel wells.

how about 15x8 4.25bs wheels with 255/60/15 tires in the rear. and 15x7 4.00bs wheels with 235/60/15 tires in the front. i dont think this will bother any performance and the front and rear tires should mostly look the same except for their width. plus this might help with any turning radius problems i might have faced with 8in wheels in the front. the only thing i can think of that might be a problem is tire rotating and the tires wearing differently. but im guessing i could just flip the tires on the wheel their already on. i feel confident with this but id like some okays or suggestions before i make this move.

Yes that should work. You could even go smaller on the front tire. I have 205/70/14 on my front and 255/70/15 on the back. I believe my backspacing is 4.25.

I swear this topic comes up daily
