where can i get 3:73 rear gears for a 84 Monte SS ?

does anybody know where i can get posi rear 3:73 gears? for my 84 Monte SS? its the stock rear, does anyone know if its a 7.5 or a 8.5? thanks

saw some 3:73's on ebay a couple days ago for about $600. They were used and in a 10 bolt rear end assembled and ready to go. It was listed as fitting 78 - 88 Monte Carlos.

oh and the difference between the 7.5/7.625 and the 8.5 is the bolt pattern one has 10 bolts holding the cover and the other has 12. which one? well thats what the search feature is for because i dont remember off hand.

I'm pretty sure the 8.5 is also a 10 bolt. I know there's a thread about it somewhere here on the forums.
Also pretty sure the SS is gonna have a 7.5/7.625 rear. I think the GNs and 442s were the only ones with the 8.5

there are some 10 bolt. 8.5s. the 10 bolt 8.5s came in some ss's, hurst/olds/442, grand national, etc... they are still only 28 spline...

the 12 bolt 8.5s are 30 spline...

An 84 MCSS should have came with a 3.42. Have you checked it? Maybe somebody swapped it out over the years.
