I'm building a 4-bolt main 350 SBC..2-piece rear main seal..it's a 010 motor..the entire short block is complete and i'm picking up everything to finish it this weekend. my main question is which flexplate and starter should i go with? 153 tooth? 168 tooth? mini starter? standard starter? this is my first build and i'm being overwhelmed on summit's site with the number of products that fit my application :| Is there reason to use a 153 over a 168? Someone please chime in and help me out here... :?:

I was looking at this flex plate

and this starter..

As far as I remember Stock 305's and 350's came with 153 while 400's came with 168. Are you using headers? A mini starter would probably be a better choice.

Edit:

Also check your block where the starter bolts. If it has a staggered bolt pattern then it should be a 168T. If its straight it should be a 153T. Correct me if im wrong.
