I have a strange whirring noise in the drivers side dash of my 85 Elky, thought it might be the blower fan but I shut that off. Oddly it sounds like its coming from directly behind my speedometer. My speedometer needle bounces a little, could it be the cable going out? The noise speeds up with RPMs. I looked behind the dash but can't see anything loose at all.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.

Speedo cables getting dry on lube or worn tend to start being heard when the weather cools off- that the case??. Need to rech up at the back of the speedo & push on the release under the cable (push twoards the unit) while pulling on cable.
