I've been in need of a carb for sometime so I just purchased a 670 street avenger. I got my floats and mixture screws adjusted and my vacuum only read 11.5 in park. I'm all for fine tuning and I know my secondaries weren't opening the smoothest so I changed my springs and that didn't fixed it. I checked my vacuum in gear and it ONLY READ 6 psi. I'm only running a 287/305 can with a .489/.476 lift. Should my vacuum be higher? I feel that a 3.0 power valve in a mild street build is incorrect? I'm only about 325-350 rwhp? Any suggestions???

Any other info on cam? Overlap, LCA/LSA? Overlap and a lower lobe seperating/centerline angle will kill vacuum.

I believe the reason for my low vacuum is because of the design on the camp. It's a mutha thunper comp cam. It's meant to sound like a really aggressive cam even though it's performance is just mild. I think the design on this cam keeps the valves open longer to create that really lumpy sound. Does this sound reasonable based on the specifications of my cam shaft? Look like I'm dropping down to a 3.5 power valve....

Thats your problem right there. The LCA on the thumprs are 107 I believe. They are specifically designed for sound and they get away with it by using a lower LCA which creates more overlap which in turn gives the lopey/chunky idle.
