ANY BODY KNOW WHY THE 4.3 WAS,NT OFFERED ON THE GBODYS

The 4.3 was the base engine in later Montes and El Caminos, just like the base option for your keyboard is to HAVE THE CAPS LOCK TURNED OFF!

The 4.3 was used in the G bodies long before it was ever used in the S-10. I think it's first application was in the Astro/Safari van and maybe the Caprice, but the G body may have gotten it the same year. It was definitely the best of the non turbo V6 engines used in G bodies, but I have always wondered why the low line Chevys got it and the higher line cars didn't?

The 4.3 was put in starting in 85, TBI was added in 86 for G bodys.

85 and later G Body's could have had a 4.3. Late 85 TBI became standard on um. My 87 LS had one when I go it, in fact it's laying in my garage with all of 57k actual on it if anyone wants it 😳 I also had a buddy that had a GP with a TBI 4.3 in it. Don't remember what year it was tho, one of the later one's I'm sure. And I heard of a guy with a cutty that had one 87ish but I never seen it, just a picture.

The 4.3 was only offered in 85-88 Monte Carlos and 85-87 El Caminos. All were TBI and no other G-body cars had them. I had one in my old 86 Monte LS, was the perfect engine for a daily driver.
