WHY?

Why what? Looks reasonable to me, save for the paint obviously. Nothing that can't be corrected. Could be worse, could be sitting on 22's with a treefity and the important bits gone.

I agree could be A LOT worse......but I see what the OP is saying, too.

I asked the seller and he said: "Because I liked it better in all black but who ever buys it just has to paint the lower half gray." I guess. I don't know. There were only 3001 made. I think I would have put everything back original and put it in a garage! Oh well, its his. He can do what he wants!

it likely needed to be painted anyway. since the paint is now not original its not like its hurting the value of the car... unless it were bright pink

At least he was smart enough to keep the original wheels.

I love my 442 but really dislike the gold stripes, I already replaced them with same coverage area, 3 tone gray/black, and am very happy with my choice. I may very well paint the lower on mine black and lose the stripes as I prefer that clean side look. Why, because it's my car. I did the same with my '80 Grand Am that was dk charcoal on the lowers and nobody ever mentioned it Not even Kent, aka; GrandamMan. I plan to run 15x8 SS 1 wheels with 245/60 BFG's. Nothing radical and nothing that would preclude putting it back original. Let's face it, these aint' Shelby Cobra's or L88 Corvettes.

Heck I like it I have never been huge on two tone paint jobs. I don't like the wheels though.

in not a fan of the wheels at all thankfully they can be changed. as far as the all black goes, i kinda dig it but prefer the stock look. funny he kept the 307, as soon as i saw it i thought "it must have a chevy..."
