Just bought another 84' Hurst last week. Has new door window seals on both sides. Drivers side is jacked up...I have gaps where the window seals meet the window. I know how to adjust everything but I don't think that will do it for me. I think the majority of the problem is dry and weak sweeps. Any recommendations on new ones? Probably found 5 or 6 different brands.

GM has the best seals out of all of them if you can find them. Problem with ALL the sweeps is that sometimes the curve at the front of the sweep isn't made the best and will buckle/pucker a bit right at the bend. You can play with it, but it's either made perfectly or it will have a tad of a wrinkle there.

Also, most aftermarkets have screw holes that don't line up. Sometimes previous owners or body shops in a hurry to get the car done will bend/buckle the sweep to make things fit. They'll usually need to be redrilled. I've had no experience with Fairchild's but never heard anything negative about them either.

Watched some of your build...is that what you put on your Cutlass?
Yep, I did have to elongate a couple mounting holes to get them to sit tight to the doors, but overall fit was really good. The Cutlass and Regal share the same door as 69HurstOlds mentioned with the curve up at the front. I bought sweeps for a GN since they are black, but the chrome bead are available too.

Thanks for the info everyone. Pretty much will be my summer driver so I think I will go with the Fairchilds. I'm a career auto painter for 31 years so I'm sure I can handle it. Can't imagine how many doors I've torn down in that time. Thanks again.

I've got new GM NOS sweeps for $250 + shipping. pm me if interested. I'm in Mn.

Holy crap! I paid way less than that maybe 5 years back. I want to say $30 Canadian or less each from Rock Auto. The Fairchild outer swerps have held up well. Between those outer sweeps and adjusting the guides, no more floppy windows with huge air leaks.
