The price sure is right. A 454/T-400 is about as bulletproof a combo as you can ask for.

Sure, but why? The T-400 was designed to live forever behind huge motors.

I'm just iffy about the mileage of the truck bro. 274,247 miles. I'd do a compression test on the spot, if it's good then it's a great swap. Of course, drive it, pay attention to shifting, look for any slipping shifts.

I had the same engine in my 81 GP, the only mod was the Holly 750 carb, and it was awesome. It'll bring your elky alive. The T400 is a great transmission too and shifts strong.
