For as long as I owned my GP (roughly 4 years), it would run great when first started, until it warmed up; then it would run like crap. Poor throttle response, sluggish, hard starting when warm occasionally. I could hear a definite 'stutter' in the exhaust tone, telling me something was up. I always figured it was something with the timing, and finally replaced the ignition module a couple months ago. Problem solved. About a week or two ago, the problem came back. I thought maybe it was my 'super high performance' MSD Blaster coil killing the module? I replaced both the coil and module with stock ACDelco parts. First time I test drove it, there was a huge difference. It felt like a new car. After that, however, it returned to the crappy state it was in for years. When I get a chance, I'm gonna put the Blaster coil back in and see if it runs better. But I really don't want to be replacing modules every couple months. Should I check and adjust base timing after changing out the coil? I never did when I put in the MSD coil, and that was a few years ago. The couple times I've checked timing since then, it was fine. Sorry for the novel, I'd just like to get it back to running like it was. Thanks again.

Really, no one?

did you use the heat sink grease with the new module?
the only other thing i can think of is to check the coil grounds

Yup. Both times.

Save yourself a headache, replace the distributor with a non ECM type. If your still running a stock carb, you may have to replace that as well for this to work.

check the wires that go from the module to the pick up they dry and fry an will cause problem when the pick up and module start getting hot. They may look fine but if the wire are brital and cracked I would bet your losing voltage.
