as far as I know there's no o2 sensor. like I said I delted the emissions system. There's the two wires plugged into the carb. I'm assuming one is providing the electric choke just don't know which. Should I be concerned with spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, etc?
i live very close to san francisco. consequently, I do a bit of driving with streetlights whether in or out of the city limits. would a 3.73 be better for city driving in that case?
Hey G-Body people,
So my gas mileage has been a concern of mine for a while. I only recently started recording my gas mileage as I have needed to drive more often, and I'm getting anywhere between 8-10mpg. Its a stock Olds 307 vin Y. Mods are complete removal of emissions system, true dual...
So far so good. I went with using Passenger-Side alternator brackets. Belt squeal is gone and now I have plenty of access to the Power Steering not to mention being embarrassed to start my car in the morning, or get it passed 2000 rpm  . Thanks a lot G-Body people! :D
I bought mine with the computer already removed but one that's taken care of you can pretty much go to town removing smog hoses.
You will probably need to go to the hardware store a few times to pick up rubber caps to seal off any vacuums. Good rule of thumb is when the car is running put your...

If so, just this, and another belt to go from P/S pulley to crankcase???
Hey guys,
So I recently went with an A/C delete along with the smog pump and got the infamous belt squeal that comes when you do this mod. For a while it was more or less livable after changing the belts. I got it to a point where hard accelerating it or a cold start is what causes it to squeal...
Not entirely sure if a higher ampere alternator would be fine. For my Olds 307 my GM service manual indicates 78 Amps. Look for Option code K64 wherever your build code is on your ElCo. I have also heard that you could use alternators from later model year GM cars like from the 3400 or 3800...
the V6s in these cars are not as reliable as the 307s is what I hear. The Oldsmobile 307 is known as being a very reliable engine but not so much for power. Just check this google search!

When I first bought my '86 Cutlass Salon with the 307 V8 it was an absolute dog and couldn't accelerate to save its life and that's that the previous owner deleted the catalytic converter and converted it to true dual exhaust. I fixed all of my vacuum leaks and got rid of the cruise control unit...
