    For you Florida guys

I live in Panama City, Fl. There is no state inspection here. I'm an old fart too(48) and don't raise hell either. The local cops here leave you alone as long as you don't act like a teenager behind the wheel. I run headers through 2 1/2" dynaflow mufflers without a problem. I have owned many...

Need info on converting power to manual steering

Just removing the belt won't give a true feel of manual steering. It will actually steer much harder. As far as the oversize wheels go, it's about looking a certain way :puke: , not performance. A complete waste of time and money to me. I would rather go faster and look plain than look flashy...

Need info on converting power to manual steering

Thanks for the link. I've heard of the alternator trick. Another way to gain some hp is to switch to an electric fan. No pulley drag on crankshaft. Lightening up is a good way to go fast. Go with aluminum waterpump, radiator and heads as I did. Fiberglass bumpers, fenders, hood etc.. save alot...

Need info on converting power to manual steering

I'm not sure about the 4wd or the blazer. The base model s10 is what I would look for. You may want to google some s10 forums and search there or ask about similarities and/or differences. Wish I knew more to tell you.

Need info on converting power to manual steering

Look for a steering box from the square box style body s10, the early years '81 and up. Turning/steering won't be a problem while moving. It will be a little stiff when sitting still but will be fine as soon as you start rolling.

Need info on converting power to manual steering

The '85 manual box I used has 3 bolts. Bolts right in without any problems. After I took the installed pic, I did go back and replace factory rag joint and shaft with a double D shaft and aftermarket u-joint. I replaced it because I didn't like the feel at the steering wheel. Before swapping...

Need info on converting power to manual steering

I have an '78 regal [street car] that I converted. I used the box and arm from an '85 s-10. Both arms are the same in my setup. This may not be true in all situations. The advantages are; no pulley drag from the pump to the crankshaft [free horsepower] and less weight [less weight is faster]. I...

    How much does it weigh?

There is alot you can do to reduce weight. Street or strip? It's a matter of what is your ideal weight, what are you willing to live without and co$t. You can replace the bumper struts with aluminum supports. Remove inner bumpers. Remove your a/c and heater. Remove wiper arms, wiper motor and...

    removing front swaybar

I have fiberglass bumpers front and rear--bumpers shocks eliminated--also switched rear brake drums to aluminum--having a handlaid fiberglass pin on hood custom built right now--hood hinges and latch will be eliminated--Is the aluminum driveshaft a GM piece or aftermarket?

    removing front swaybar

Keeping the wipers--still pondering the manual brakes--going with manual steering box--What f body cars can I get a hollow swaybar from? I need to know what vehicles I can search out in the local boneyards--Thanks!
