    Parts in southern Ontario...

Well it's been a while since I've posted. The Olds is in storage and I have moved to Toronto. I was wondering if anyone knows where some good places are to look in the Toronto/Southern ontario area for g-body parts. Junk yards or whatever... Thanks for any info you can give me.

    fuel pump problem?

Hey thanks for the reply. The bottom of the pump was really grimy and looked wet. I checked the holes but couldn't really tell if there was anything coming out of them or not. I did replace the rubber intake hose connected to the steel fuel line and the pump. and I connected a vac gauge between...

    Rear End ??

It's probably 2.41 gears, maybe 2.73. If you can find the build sheet the code for 2.41 is GU1 and 2.73 is GU2. Look in the options section.

    fuel pump problem?

Should my fuel be draining out of the fuel pump over night? Every morning after the car has been sitting when I go to start it the fuel filter is empty. When I first crank it it starts right up on the remaining fuel in the carb but after that fuel is gone it runs a little rough like there is no...

    engine idle too high...

Found a small vacuum leak around the vacuum modulator for the transmission. Put some thread sealer on the fitting and sealed it up. Seems to shift better now too. Couldn't find any other leaks going around with a modest amount of brake cleaner spray. I noticed a nut on the pax side of the...

    engine idle too high...

I haven't had a chance to look again, but the fast idle cam is defenitley disengaged and the choke is wide open. I can't see anything that is binding and i can't physically push the the throttle arm down any farther. I thought that maybe there was something I could adjust so that the throttle...

    engine idle too high...

I'm trying to set my idle to 550rpm in drive as per the veci label under the hood. I just put an edelbrock carburetor on and the lowest I can get it is 600rpm, and then the idle screw is no longer touching the throttle arm. Is there any adjustment I can make to get the idle down to 550? Thanks

    intake manifold removal/installation

yes it was removed and plugged. So I guess I should just advance a degree at a time and test it out? As long as it's not pinging or knocking I should continue to advance?

    intake manifold removal/installation

So i advanced the timing 2 degrees today from stock 15 to 17. It seems better. The vacuum gauge topped out at 20". What I don't understand is that at idle I can basically keep turning the distributor untill the marking is off the scale past 20 degrees, and the idle just gets faster. Does that...

    sulphur smell from exhaust...

thanks for the replies. Was having a cold stall problem in the mornings but was planning on changing the carb anyway. I noticed the smell is definetly coming from the around the cat. The smell gets alot stronger behind the pax side wheel well. I didn't have a chance to look at it but will...

    sulphur smell from exhaust...

well that would make sense since I just put a 500cfm carb right out of the box on my 231 v6. I should probably buy the calibration kit that comes with different rods and lean it out a little.

    sulphur smell from exhaust...

Noticing a strong sulphur smell from the exhaust after a going for a drive in my Cutlass. I just put in a new intake and a 4bbl carb. Don't really notice the smell at idle only after a drive. I've heard a few different things about what this could be. 1. Bad catalytic converter. It's about 26...

    intake manifold removal/installation

do you mean with a vacuum gauge plugged into manifold vacuum. then set timing to the maximum vacuum reading while at idle? is the highest vacuum reading the best advance for performance? thanks

    intake manifold removal/installation

So far it's great! The increase in torque is really noticeable and is running a lot smoother overall. The tone of the engine was a pretty drastic change that I wasn't expecting. It's got a little more growl when idling, and it's got a pretty deep throaty sound when the extra 2 barrels kick in. I...

    AXLES...

On the look out for a new rear end for my Cutlass. See all kinds of things for sale and have a few questions. Don't know much of anything about rear axles so here she goes. What's the difference between 7.5 and 8.5? What exactly is open diff? And whats the difference/advantages between 10 bolt...

    intake manifold removal/installation

thanks alot. good to know about the fuel filter. The wife and I went for another drive tonight and I think the new sound just needs some getting used to. It was very quiet with the ole carb and manifold. you can really here the new intake breathing when you stomp on it. I think the new sound...

    intake manifold removal/installation

Well got it all done today. She's up and running finally. Everything seems to be working pretty good no water or vacuum leaks that I can tell. She started up on the first couple of cranks with no pump of gas-alot faster than my old dualjet and no cold stall. Picked up a a couple of new chrome...

    people with edelbrock carbs

yea I was thinking that too, just have to figure out a way of doing it so it doesn't bind with the cable. Right now it's connected to the dist cap. (temporarily)

    people with edelbrock carbs

just put on an edelbrock carb with and automatic transmission and having some trouble finding a good place to hook up the return spring. There is only one good spot at the front of the throttle bracket to hook the spring to but I don't have a good place forward of that to hook the other end of...
