ok well after i was finishing up repairing my rear brake lines i noticed that i have a leak from the speedo cable wehre it attaches to the trans. I tried seeing if the bolt was snug and it was. The cable itself seems loose in the housing, there is some play when i wiggle it. I'm assuming that i'm going to need another gasket /o-ring? I know there's a "bullet" looking thing as part of the speedo gear assembly. Out of curiosity, could a leak at this point cause my speedometer to be off ?

des plaines, il
it could leak but not throw off the speedo, on the "bullet" thing is an o ring like this on mine:

also the driven gear that sits inside there might let some fluid out if its really old and worn.

my old one was metal with a plastic gear, my new one is all plastic. the only things that affect you speedo being incorrect is if the drive gear has been wallowed out from the drive gear or if you tires have changed how tall they are. when i switched over to the 200r4 in my elky i had to get the correct drive and driven gear for the trans to go with my 28" tall tire and the 4.11:1 rearend gears. if ya wanna figure out what drive and driven gears yer gonna need heres a math problem:

good luck
