How big can i go on a 79 regal and what are my options to get more clearance ?

I have 265/50/15's on the back now ( I just bought the car) and the drivers side rear tires is rubbin the fender....Passenger side looks good ...

Im wanting to order a set of 255/60/15 MT Drag Radials and they are 1" more overall diameter but slightly thinner ...
Just curious what my options are so i dont shred a $210 tire...

Do you mean the ET Street Radials? I ran 275/60R15 on stock wheels and had some rubbing issues until I put polyurethane bushing in the trailing arms, that solved the problem. You could also try some spacers to give you a bit more room.

A 275/60/15 and a 255/60/15 will both fit. Ideal backspace on the rim is 4 to 3 3/4 on a 8" wide wheel with a factory rear. I'm planning on a 275/60/15 on a 15x8 with 4" back space with a 1/4" spacer. Also will need to roll the fender lips. Be sure to heat your paint so it doesn't crack. If your worried run the 255. Itl grip plenty
