Run the 7.5" til she blows

The Ford 9" is overkill for 99% of street cars. They weigh a lot more than an GM 8.5" 10 bolt and the 8.5" will handle your big block setup. Now if you are planning on running slicks at the drag strip every other weekend, then you will want to invest in the Ford 9"

Like Ritter said, it all depends on your needs...one thing with the 9" the parts are easier to find

so you guys think the 8.5 is reliable with street tires. I will act a fool and do burnouts and donuts. No use in lying so it needs to handle the abuse which is why the 9 in is for sure safety. But I have heard good things about the 8.5 and its cheaper

an 8.5 is cheaper?...plus they are hard to find. 9" came on alot of ford products and it's easy to resize the length of the axle tubes

8.5 will handle your BB all day long assuming it is put together right.

My Pontiac dynoed at 630 hp and the 8.5 handles wheels up , 10 flat runs just fine.
