Blower looks clean! The intercooler brick acted as a mesh and kept all the debris down.

Having my parents over for the weekend helped a lot. Dad and I can work 3 times as fast on the garage together and Mom helped do grandma stuff with the baby so I got a good stretch in the garage.

I pulled the driver's head off and #3 piston as expected is gone. The head looks rough and #5 rod is twisted. The block is ugly from the rod whacking the cylinder but strangely the rod is still there.

Either way the engine is shot. Debris all through the top of the heads, block needs to be sleeved, combination chamber on driver head would need to be repaired.

Coil issue maybe?

The gouges from the pin smacking the cylinder are definitely deeper than .030, probably +.060

I don't suppose machine shops weld bores the way they do cylinder heads? Never asked about that myself. But I did have a head welded and milled before. It ate itself along the firing ring on the head gasket.

In for the tear down.

You confirming that #5 is wonky leads to an initial guess that you found the limit of the Gen 3 rods. I'll guess that there are impact/love rubs on the counterweight for #3. How did the head gasket look?

Head gasket looks good. No signs of lifting, it was still stuck down nice.
