BUILD THREAD 86 Monte SS “The Red Devil “

So here it is. My second Monte Carlo SS I have owned. This time she is home to stay. I have big plans for her. She runs and drives but it looks like she has a blown head gasket so that has put my hopes of cruising in her while I get the new drivetrain ready on hiatus but it’s all good. The entire interior was stripped when I bought it though I have most of it. The dash I do t think is salvageable so I’ll find another that’s in better condition and put a cover on it. I’m going to change the interior color to black and looking to paint the car a dark red. I have the doors one is in the back of the car the other is in my shed. It’s definitely a project but i’m looking forward to it.

Looks like a good plan you got going, shame to see the silver interior go my dads 87 aero had a silver interior but totally get the plan for black with the red. I had planned to do black with mine until I saw the blue it had and thought it would work well enough

Haven’t had much time or money to work on the car but I have taken most of the parts that were thrown into the car and stated to take stock on what I have. It’s going to be a process but I did find I have a complete extra set of wheel center caps.

Yesterday was nice so I started some tear down. I got the gauge cluster, radio, and hvac controls. The gauge housing is in bad shape so I will have to find a replacement and the only piece that broke while removing was the clip for the hvac door wire. Ill
See if I can glue that piece back on. I’ll get a picture of that later today.
