I was a member ~10 yrs ago. Had(still have) an 81 Cutlass Supreme and 78 Camino. Unfortunately around 2015 an acquaintance and his meth head friends stopped by and stole all my tools, wheels off the Cutty, ransacked the Camino, took everything I'd had to rebuild engine and trans, and stole my late mother's 71 Triumph tr6c. Got the bike and my wheels back eventually but totally lost motivation to work on them. My son turned 14 this year and knowing he will need something to drive, I asked if he wanted to get the Camino roadworthy again. Excitedly he agreed. I set out looking for an engine, and being continually broke, my options were limited. I found a trade partner though, traded a basket case Honda 200X trike for a '98 low mile Vortec roller 350. Recently purchased an aluminum intake for it and currently waiting on my boy to buy intake gaskets (responsibility y'know). Other than rebuilding the carb it's ready to drop in. Can't wait to start this journey with my boy.

Like most everything else in this world, what goes around comes around. Meantime, welcome back. You will find yourself in good company here as there is another Dad/son thread running with Pagrunt and his son, and the project being a 79 Monte.

Thieves are sh*t. Welcome. You've got a lot of potential there. I'm building up an 84 camino with my 14 year old son as well.

Much empathy here. I had several cars stolen from a Wounded Warrior Project I was involved with. Same deal basically, former business partner with a drug addicted son.

Welcome back! Despite having been victimized by these local scumbags, your interest has been rekindled with the help of your young son.
Good luck! I hope your son will help with your continued motivation.

Welcome {back} to the GBodyForum!
The crackheads will get their due justice. Moving forward with your father/son project will be good therapy.
I did a father/son project with my son on a '77 Camaro and since then he's taken off and far surpassed my knowledge.

Hey man, welcome back. I'm sorry to hear about what happened, but I'm very happy to hear about this being a Father/Son project- there's no more important bond on the planet. Regardless of what hurdles you encounter this will be a source of many fond memories for you and your son.

On a side note I also have a '78 El Camino.
