its a quick 'paintjob' that goes over your primary color...so like for example..you have a white car and you want to try out a matte black, instead of giving it a complete paintjob over you can cover it with vinyl like in the link i will provide..apparently can last up to 4 years and still doesn't mess up the primary paint

was thinking about doing it just to do it and see how it is

-keeps your real paint clean
-protects from rock chips
-can change color of car to whatever you want
-don't need to wax
-if you get tired of a color, just change it!

There was an article in Hot Rod magazine several years ago about this. They took a '67 Chev Impala convertible, did some basic bodywork on it to clean it up, sprayed a coat of primer, then put the car in a white vinyl wrap with flames on it. It looked just like it had been painted, but it was a vinyl wrap.
