Looking to buy a new 8 inch Bench Grinder

Any input on a brand?

They all look to be China made except for the big $$ JET

I have had good luck with used high quality older grinders...
Decade ago I got ahold of an old, as in 1970s era, craftsman. One wheel on each end, with a metal shafted snake light in the middle. Works great, and I've seen it put to good use. I doubt it'd move even if it wasn't bolted down, suckerer has to weigh 50 pounds

A reeeely good🙄 used one might not be a bad idea, but can be hard to find, Baldor motors are among the best you can find.
Hp ratings are so far off between real American & Chinese it ain't funny. Some older made in tiawan grinders ain't bad.
A few other options.
Could put a grinder wheel adapter on another motor end, which would usually be only one wheel. Left or right side are different threads & motor rotation would determine that. I got a free spa pump motor outside with a vacuum on off switch & adapter for buffing wheel that's about a true American 3/4 hp. Growing up my daddy had some sort of OLD washing machine motor with adapter that lasted me & him my entire growing up period . Old commercial fan motors can be a good source. old air compressor motors also.
Motors can be 1750 or 3450 rpm for slower or fast grinding. Most grinder adapter shafts are for either 5/8 or 3/4"
Another good diy option for a good old motor is running a pulley & belt to a double ended shaft & pulley setup. This way you can move more sideways clearance ( great for buffing wheels) with motor out the way & change shaft rpm with pulleys.
I got a good baldor 1.5 hp motor sitting up I inherited. May set up to use both with a double shaft & a 6 x 48"belt sanding setup from one of those shopsmith things on a home made wood stand with large locking casters.

Buying used online is out of the question.

Some peoples definition of works good is complete;y different from mine.

So not taking the chance or wasting the time.

I had the pulley setup years ago in my old house but the garage space in limited and dont have the room for it

The one I have now lasted 20 years of hard use and I am surprised for a very very cheap tool

Speedway Tools (not the speedshop) brand. was a mail order place that was even cheaper than Harbor Freight 20+ years agp

So for now its back to new unless something local pops up that I can test
