I changed the melted bad connector. Unpinned wires and replaced plastic. Didn't help my issue. Blew $12 on a set of brushes, didn't help. So I guess the next part to swap is the regulator, or diodes?
I don't know but I'm trying.
Remember this alternator only has 26000 miles but it is from Nov 82.
Any ideas?

After many times pulling it off and apart, bact together. It was the voltage regulator.
So now I, and you, know that when at first it doesn't charge at idle then after you rev it it starts charging, it the voltage regulator.
Now I'm going to drink.
