As long as the computer, engine and trans are all from the same car it should work fine. If you start mixing and matching parts of differant years and such it may be a pain in the gas. The 4L60"E" is electronically controlled and needs the computer to control the shifting. I'm not sure what computers will control it and the engine but if it's all coming from the same car it should work flawlessly.

Best I can remember, the 4L60E is basically just like a 700-4R only it's comp controlled.

If nothing else a good old fashioned TH350 or 200-R4 will work behind any engine. The 200-R4 may need a lock-up kit for the converter but that's no big deal.
