the carb is too big for the 350 but that being said I would try a higher power valve. You probably have a 4.5 so I would try a 6.5

did that and fattened up the jets, made a big difference but still had a slight stumble, had to retard timing to clear up stumble.
would like to run more timing though. got it at 30* total now.

putting in a higher power valve is to reduce the fuel so why did you fattened up the jets for more fuel?...what's the air fuel ratio?

6.5 pv opens before a 4.5 has nothing to do with reducing fuel.

anyways, got that light throttle stumble fixed, distributor had two light springs in it
timing all in at 1800 rpm.
put in one heavy spring and one light spring, 21* bushing.
36* total timing now, 21* mechanical timing,
all timing in about 3500 rpm. does not miss a lick now.

6.5 pv opens before a 4.5 has nothing to do with reducing fuel.

You have that backwards. A 6.5 power valve opens at 6.5 inches of vacuum, whereas the 4.5 opens at 4.5 inches of vacuum. So as vacuum builds, the 4.5 will richen the circuit quicker than the 6.5 and, conversely, when you open the throttle and vacuum dies away, the 6.5 will close quicker than the 4.5.

if im idling at 14 inches of vacuum and crack the throttle my power valve is gonna open at 6.5 of vacuum or anything less.
