I got a new car last Friday. 1995 Chevy Camaro SS. the car runs and sound healthy as all get out. it can really put the power down for being a stock lt1 350 with just a cold air intake.

i do have one question though. when the car is sitting at idle the oil pressure gauge drops to 0 and the check gauges light comes on. but the car runs smooth and there is no knocking or clattering coming from the engine. I'm not familiar with these engines but from my knowledge learned here at WyoTech i want to say its either the gauge or the oil sending unit. Does it sound like i'm on the right track or could i be missing something else

I would quickly hook up another gauge just to double check that it is indeed getting oil pressure but it is most likely the sender or gauge. I haven't really heard it being a problem on those cars but in reality gm does have issues with them pretty commonly in other vehicles.

Nice ride WyoKid, Yeah that is most likely the sender or the connection to it. It's on the block behind the intake. My friends '96 was doing the same thing after i rebuilt the motor. It was the connection on that one.

I think the LT1 motors still had the tapped pressure at the back of the block, straight up from the oil pump. On pre-LT1 350s, the 3/8" sender was threaded in to the left of the distributor. Alternate location is just above the filter, low on the block.

Yep, that's the one. It has 2 elaborate taped connections that put together, lays the sender sideways toward the driver's side. Yet '93 and early '94s had it above the oil filter.
