New toy 1981 Indy 500 pace car

if its an olds engine they where bad to wear out rocker arm pivots.they are alum alloy but its an easy fix.plus you get to replace valve cover gaskets it probably needs.

I replaced everything, rebuilt the original engine

Well dang, I just found this post, and started reading threw it. Like others have said, I never knew this car existed.
I'm so glad to see this piece of history is still going strong. It's gonna' be something special, when it's finally finished!

Did a couple events with the Indy, so far a cars and coffee and then 6 charity laps around Charlotte motor speedway yesterday.

Took the Indy to a 80s and 90s rad show and won best patina

The patina on that car is killer. I dare say it's better with the patina than it would be totally redone.

May repaint it someday but for now the patina is where it’s at plus most people seem to enjoy the patina look it has going.

It took a long time to get like that and there only original ones.

Found a company that was able to replicate the Indianapolis 500 pace car plate that the pace cars had when they were doing the duties at Indy, unfortunately mine was long gone so this plate is a great alternative. Now I just need to get the front plate recreated.

Not really, I’ve got to order some supplies and parts for it, looking at upgrading my air compressor so I can do bodywork and paint. Want to paint my Fiero this spring so I can try and do some 40th anniversary events with it.
