I agree that if you have the ability and tools to cut out the old frame and weld in the new pieces correctly then you can make your own kit at minimal cost.
I notched my rear frame before I even found out they made kits for it, not that it would have changed my mind about buying one when I would have made my own anyways, of coarse having a plasma cutter comes in real handy.
